Positive pressure tube
Great additional support for the calf barns
A positive pressure tube/polytube system is made up of a long tube that runs along the internal length of a barn with an external wall-mounted fan at one end that blows fresh outside air into the barn.
The long tube runs the room's length and has equally spaced holes in it. The fan draws fresh air in from the outside, pressurizing and inflating the polytube and blowing the air out of each hole to distribute it evenly throughout the room. So, the animals are exposed to the same environment and the air is still when it reaches them.
A positive pressure tube system is ideal to be used as a supplemental system on top of natural ventilation, especially in calf barns. It has a more significant impact, especially during the colder months when the calves do not generate enough heat to create the thermal buoyancy required to draw air in through the curtains and out through chimney openings. When the temperature becomes too cold to naturally provide a good air pattern, the sidewall curtains can be closed completely. Mainly, the polytube system is used to provide the minimum amount of fresh air. This could sometimes be used for summer applications and for cooling effects with different hole designs.
The polytube by SKOV-SECCO is delivered already perforated with the calibrated holes and the pre-installed suspension hooks. In this way, the ventilation holes are aligned.
Features and benefits:
- Custom-designed per individual barn to meet customers’ needs.
- The holes in the tube are already calibrated, so it delivers fresh air to the calves without creating a draft.
- Supplied with double suspension cables which can withstand strong winds without sustaining damage.
- The fans are available in either 50 or 60 Hz, either as a single or three-phase. We usually aim to get the pressure of 45 Pa (0.18” H20 SP) when we determine the capacity of the fans.
- Creates a drier environment and potentially lowers bedding costs.
- Made with polyethylene.
